U21 is an international network of 21 leading research-intensive universities in 13 countries. The University of Birmingham U21 Overseas Alumni Scholarship has been set up to demonstrate the University’s commitment to attracting the best research students and to enhance its relationship with some of the world’s leading universities through the U21 network.
Scholarships at Doctoral level will commence in October 2009 and will be available for up to 25 overseas students in a wide range of research disciplines:
Eligibility requirements
- Applications are open to graduates of U21 affiliated Universities who are classified as 'international' for fee purposes. For a full list of U21 institutions please visit www.u21.bham.ac.uk
- Students that have already secured full fee and maintenance support from other sources can still apply
- Candidates must have submitted an application to study at the University of Birmingham
Selection criteria
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence, achievement and potential. Financial circumstances of the candidates are not taken into account.
Value: benefits and duration
Scholarships will begin in October 2009 and will provide £4,000 per year for three years. Funds may be applied to fees or can be paid out in instalments to scholars at the start of each academic year.
