The professional doctorate programme for practising educational psychologists at Birmingham is now in its seventh year and our eighth cohort begins in September 2007. The programme offers an opportunity for advanced study in educational psychology and current students on the course have found that the programme has had an immediate positive impact upon their professional practice, leading to creative new developments.

Part 1 of the programme consists of four educational psychology modules and a range of research training modules. Psychological theory and research which directly impact upon current and developing practice inform the modules and students report that they are stimulating, highly relevant and of immediate use within their practice. Students are supported by the EP team throughout the programme through tutorials and support groups.

Part 2 consists of a piece of independent research within the domain of professional educational psychology practice.
