The University of Birmingham estimates that the cost of living for a single student is £670 per month (£8,040 for a year), including accommodation. If you are bringing dependants with you, you should allow about £3,500–£4,500 extra per year for a spouse or civil partner and £2,500-£3,000 extra per year for each child. This is a realistic figure, based on the cost of living in the UK.
Coming to the UK to study is a serious financial commitment. You need to ensure that you have sufficient funds for your full tuition, your living expenses and the living expenses of any dependants. You should have the funding secured before travelling to the UK and starting your course.
The accommodation available includes rooms in self-catered flats, all of which are located within easy reach of the main campus.
We do our best to allocate you to your first choice accommodation but some places are more popular than others and we cannot guarantee that you will get your first choice; we will work with you to make sure you get the accommodation that suits you.
